![]() ![]() The Inn is beautiful but needs attention. Oh, did I mention the barking dog in the room next to ours? Remember, this is a pet friendly inn so if you are allergic to pets or not hearing impaired this will pose a problem for you. Our business schedule did not allow us to make any dinners therefore I cannot do a review. Needless to say if you are anxious to get out and explore the country, skip breakfast. 15 minutes later ( you will have a selection of two choices) mine was some type of sausage which was over cooked and a cold quiche accompanied by 2-3 ounces of grits. 15 minutes later a small, warm smoothie shot with four small pieces of fruit on a toothpick like skewer. For the first course we each got one small bran muffin. The bathroom is dated, large and clean and has a broken bidet with a sign on it. It has green walls, green drapes, green chairs, green bed coverlets. We wove our way through the dining area to be shown to our room which was The Colonel Fry room. Also, a period fireplace was in the room but was not lit to help the ambience. The front room had a cluttered piano to the left and a white couch against the wall with a large stain on the front. First impressions are everything for me so the minute we walked into the main foyer I was slightly disappointed. Beautiful white columns and sweeping verandas. The Inn is a gracious, old property which depicts it's historical past. My husband and I recently stayed at the Meander as we were trying to combine business with pleasure. Overall a wonderful get-away weekend, with just enough to do in the area. No TV or WiFi in Summer Kitchen and unable to connect in main house, but did not miss. The staff will bring you ice from the kitchen and even wine glasses, upon your request. There is a coffee maker, but no refrigerator in the room. The stairs are a bit steep (and not carpeted), so if you think you or your dog might have trouble navigating, you might consider another cottage or room. The stink bugs were out (and in) full force despite the best efforts of the staff. The Summer Kitchen features two fireplaces unfortunately it was too warm to use them during our stay. Be sure to ask for some wine tasting coupons if you plan to visit local wineries. The owners were away the weekend we visited (a rarity), but the staff was totally profession and really went out of their way to make our stay as perfect as possible. Wines by the glass or as a pairing are offered and quite reasonable. We had the 4course dinner in the inn one night and were quite impressed by the personalized anniversary keepsake printed menu, not to mention the food. One group opted to eat outside on the back patio. The dining room, also used for dinner, is elegant with white tablecloth setting. We relished our sit down, served, multi-course breakfasts each morning with choice of sweet or savory entree portion. We enjoyed strolling the grounds with our dog and playing frisbee with her on the front lawn. It is an historic plantation property amidst a working farm. ![]() The hay was being harvested in the fields out front, the garden produce was still growing, the horses were out. The entire property is just as lovely as pictured and was decorated with a fall theme. We booked the Summer Kitchen for an anniversary get-away and brought along our dog. ![]() The Summer Kitchen features two fireplaces unfortunately it was too warm to use them during One night and were quite impressed by the personalized anniversary keepsake printed menu, not to mention the food. ![]()
